BIODATA OF Prasanna Ram Joshi Executive Officer, Nepal Army Welfare Board (NAWB)

Lt. Colonel Prasanna Ram Joshi (Retd.) is a distinguished former officer of the Nepal Army, known for his multidisciplinary expertise in engineering, management, and welfare project development. Born on 30 August 1967. He completed his schooling at Adarsha Vidya Mandir High School, earning First Division with distinction. He pursued higher studies in science at Amrit Campus, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics Stream) from Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College, Allahabad University, India. He further strengthened his academic foundation by completing an MBA (Finance) with honors from Kathmandu University, an M.Tech in Advanced Electronics/Communication Engineering from MCEME, India, and an M.Phil in Management from Tribhuvan University with top honors.

During his extensive military career, Lt. Col. Joshi held numerous key appointments across the Nepal Army’s Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) service. His roles included Workshop Commander, Division and Brigade EME Commander, Central Workshop Commander, Technical Adjutant, Training Administrator, and Senior Instructor at the EME School. He also served internationally as Maintenance Commander in UNIFIL, Lebanon, where he contributed to peacekeeping operations. His technical expertise was instrumental in designing, estimating, and executing major projects, including the electrification of the Nepal Army Officers Club and establishing repair and maintenance facilities in Pokhara, Surkhet, and Kathmandu.

In addition to his engineering and command responsibilities, Lt. Col. Joshi demonstrated strong academic and managerial capabilities, serving as Associated Faculty for MBA programs at Pokhara University, Kathmandu University, and LA College of Management. He taught courses in Quantitative Techniques, Operations Management, Service Management, TQM, and various engineering subjects. His experience also includes management training, rural energy development, consulting in microhydro projects, and data analysis using SPSS and SAS. As District Energy Advisor in UNDP’s Rural Energy Development Program, he contributed significantly to decentralized renewable energy initiatives in Nepal.

Since 2014, Lt. Col. Prasanna Ram Joshi has played a pivotal leadership role in the Nepal Army Welfare Board (NAWB), serving as Deputy Executive Officer (Finance & Investment) and currently as the Executive Officer. He has led major welfare and income‑generating initiatives such as the Nepal Army Shoe Factory (SWAT boot project), Tent & Sire Factory, Subsidized Canteen Modernization, Canteen Mobile App, expansion of army fuel pumps, and the Integrated Agriculture & Livestock Satellite Project in Morang. His analytical acumen, managerial excellence, and strategic vision have been instrumental in designing and implementing welfare programs that benefit thousands of army families across Nepal.
